The Moisturizer Madness #2

Hi Guys...

Wasn't last week the best absolute weather we experienced? Plenty of cool breeze and the showers were heavenly... But that means only one possible outcome here in the UAE... The not-so-awaited summer is just round the corner... And for most people it means packing away those tubs of moisturizers and getting out those dusty ole sunscreens.. But this is the biggest mistake we all make... And here's why... The pattern of a UAE resident goes like this.. The heat increases and the air conditioning temperature decreases... We subject ourselves to so much dehydration just to stay cool ... And this is exactly why we must triple our use of moisturizers this season... So here's my opinion of some of them out there....

1. Nivea Repair & Care Body Lotion 250ml - AED 13.75 - This is an amazing lotion for extra dry skin.. I found that while using this I did not have to re apply often to keep my skin hydrated. It is a very light weight and non sticky formula and soaks into your skin without practically any effort. It contains Dexpanthenol which acts like a moisturizer, improving stratum corneum (outer layer of epidermis) hydration, reducing transepidermal water loss and maintaining skin softness and elasticity. This lotion claims to provide 48 hr hydration which of course is quite ridiculous. It is white in color and has one of the typical fresh scents of Nivea. I actually took this with me on my vacation to India and it worked amazing there as well in the oppressive humidity. It comes in a squeeze bottle for smaller sizes and the bigger size comes in a pump bottle version... Will definitely re purchase..

2. Vaseline Healthy Even Tone 200ml - AED 11.75 - I got this lotion after it was featured on Huda Kattan's beauty blog... And I was so disappointed that I am still wondering what to do with the remaining bottle... This is definitely not moisturizing at all and imparts a whitish tint to the skin and especially gets into the fine lines of my hands and feet... Fine I was ready to forgive all that if only it did a fraction of what it claimed... Unfortunately this product had only regrets in store for me.. So all in all it was a loser product for me... It contains Vitamin B3 and triple sunscreens so at least you are safe from the awful UV rays..Will not purchase again...

3. Dove Purely Pampering Nourishing Lotion 400ml - AED 20.95- This is one of the lotions belonging to the latest range of Dove lotions... For more details on this range check out my friend Naznin's awesome post here ... I absolutely love this cream... It is of a medium consistency and easily absorbed into the skin.. It has a very light and delicate fragrance more on the cocoa butter-y side... I'm a little discontent with the fact that it is not so moisturizing and has to be re applied which is mainly because it is targeted for people with all skin types and not particularly for extreme dry skin like mine.... So you might be thinking what is it that I love about this lotion so much? It really and truly makes your skin so soft and supple with just a couple of uses... And because it does that to such an extent that I do not mind re applying it as often as needed..Will definitely re purchase..

4. Nivea Cocoa Butter Body Cream 200ml  - AED 11.50 - This is one of Nivea's new cream which is also available in lotion form... I chose the cream because I like thicker creams since I have an idea stuck up in my head that thicker creams perform way better in the hydration department.. This is quite a thick cream and definitely needs quite a bit of massaging into... But it is worth the effort.. This does pacify your extreme dryness for quite a long time... I found it quite efficient and to my liking... It contains Cocoa Butter and Vitamin E , both are excellent ingredients for your skin...

5. Cool & Cool Body Butter in Cinnamon 250ml - AED 42.50 - I found this product calling to me in Carrefour and because it had a most exotic ingredient - Cinnamon and the packaging was so awesome I fell into the temptation... But I was fooled by mere advertisement... The consistency of this cream is out of this world... It rubs onto your skin to form a very pasty application and I can confidently say that my Colgate will apply much more smoothly... Ah but the fragrance is divine...Fit for a queen.. But sadly again it does not last much on the skin...But you might think how is it that I used up so much of this? Yes I finally found a way to work around it which I will let you'll know soon...Will not purchase again...

So guys, Have you'll tried any of these creams/lotions... If so do post your experiences below...

All these products are available at your local supermarkets unless otherwise mentioned
